Updates

Hello,

If you have not heard by now, I am on maternity leave! My husband and I are so excited to be parents to our son, Hank. Mrs. Stephanie Smith will be filling in for me while I am away. I expect to be back mid-January. So, while I am away, please use Mrs. Smith as your go-to resource.

I am including some pictures from a few weeks ago. Some of the students were a part of a reader's theater to help with fluency in reading. Here are some pictures from their presentation.

We are Responsible Citizens

This past week we took a break from the Wonders reading and writing curriculum to spend time learning how to be responsible citizens of our community. It was great to see and hear the students making a conscious effort to be their best and treat others how they want to be treated. In the pictures below you can see our biggest project. We made life-sized cut-outs of ourselves and labeled them with responsible actions and words. Everyone had a blast!

We Are Back!

Our first week back at school was quite busy, but definitely fun. We have already built our Read to Self and Work on Writing stamina up to a half hour. The kids have worked very hard for this and as a reward I made some time at the end of the day for some extra recess. Here is a picture of us practicing Read to Self. Also, one quick reminder, picture day is September 1.

Christmas Activities

Here are a few pictures I took during the last few weeks of school. Thank you so much to those parents who came and helped with the gingerbread house making and to those parents who donated the supplies. The kids really enjoyed themselves, all thanks to you! The last picture is of Santa visiting the classroom on Thursday. It was so funny to see how mesmerized they were with him. Enjoy your break and have a wonderful holiday season!
